About Me

Hello, I am Katie Gordon, LMSW, a licensed clinical social worker providing therapy services in Michigan, Florida, and Texas. With over 18 years of experience in the mental health field, I offer compassionate and client-centered counseling to help individuals find hope and healing.

Experience and Expertise

I graduated with my Masters from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2007. My career has included a variety of settings and populations.

I worked as Clinical Director and therapist of a Metro Detroit counseling group for two years before establishing Solas Counseling. Prior to that, I spent four years providing outpatient therapy at Dawn Farm, a substance abuse treatment center in Ann Arbor. I have also worked as an in-home therapist in rural Michigan, as well as providing therapy in two outpatient behavioral health centers, one in Ypsilanti and one in the Downriver area of Detroit. My graduate internships were at an adolescent psychiatric hospital and with an adoption/foster care agency. Before attending graduate school, I was a houseparent at a youth ranch for teens in foster care in Texas. My undergraduate degree is in English and Psychology from Texas A&M University.

My areas of expertise are working with people experiencing depression, anxiety, and trauma/complex trauma. Other areas of specialty include working with relationship issues, substance abuse/addiction & recovery, codependency, job stress, parenting difficulties, domestic violence/cycles of abuse, improving communication, grief & loss, and adoption.

When not at work, I enjoy photography, travel, reading, and spending time with family, friends, and my two cats.
